Skim of the News for Smart Jews–Aug 1, Tammuz 26

Be informed, be a smart Jew in under 5 minutes.  Here’s the news being talked about by smart Jews today…  (our skim is ethnically focused, but we’re thrilled for every reader)

yiddish_worldToday’s Skim of the News for Smart Jews

- Video of “Palestinian” father sending his 4 year old to throw rocks at Israeli soldiers and be killed goes viral.  “Near Modiin Illit, Israel yesterday, you see a Palestinian father urging his young son toward a group of IDF soldiers, yelling at them to shoot him, as explained here. What greater honor for a four-year-old boy than to be on the evening news as a martyr?”

- British Police Chief, terror attack a question of when, not if.  “Our threat level has been at 'Severe' for two years. It remains there. It means an attack is highly likely – you could say it is a case of when, not if.  I feel and understand the fear, and as the police officer in charge of preventing such an attack I know you want me to reassure you, I am afraid I cannot do that entirely.”

- U.S. Democratic candidate for president Clinton receives LOTS of anti-Israel advise from her advisors.  “From an ex ambassador's suggestion to support Palestinian protests to a senior advisor forwarding his son's anti-Zionist articles, emails sent to Hillary Clinton raise questions.  Yet, Clinton’s public statements have always been particularly carefully crafted, walking a tightrope between strong supporters of Israel among her major donors and the current White House’s chilly relationship with Jerusalem.”

- Israel social games company Playtika sold to Chinese investment group for $4.4 billion.  “A consortium of Chinese companies is paying $4.4 billion for Playtika, the Israeli social games developer. The group, led by an affiliate of Shanghai Giant Network Technology, will acquire Herzliya-based Playtika in an all-cash deal.  South Korea’s Netmarble reportedly made an offer for the Israeli gaming company but was outbid by the Chinese consortium.”

…and that’s the news of interest to Jews today…
