The “Spiritual” World?

   by Reb Gutman Locks

The "Spiritual" World?

Yochanan asks: I'm a Sephardic Jew living in Brazil. I've been watching your videos on YouTube for a while now and I wanted to know more about spirituality. I don't really believe or care that much about the spiritual world, but that is changing for I am accepting some things that happened and happen to me as a part of the spiritual world.

When I was a little boy I used to see these shadowy people running near me, I don't remember them running towards me, it was always running past me. I remember I always got really scared. When I grew up though they stopped appearing frequently. Nowadays it's rare to see something of that kind but sometimes I do see standstill people or walking peacefully, almost sad really, towards other directions, never towards me.

Do you have any experience on how I could understand the meaning of all of this?

Gutman's Reply

Ignore it. Your mind is just showing you things that are already in your head and mixing it up with your peripheral vision and you are drawing conclusions that fit your imagination. Ignore them or you could become attached to them and end up driving yourself nuts.

  1. Would advise this young man to get some Jewish education and the more he learns, the more he will understand what we mean by 'spirituality'.

  2. The door is slightly open for this Jew; let's not close it in our haste to help him avoid norrishkeit.

Yochanan, there is a spiritual world; in fact this world is a part of it but that remains masked until Moshiach comes. But we can access it. I suggest you find the local Chabad Rabbi and ask him the path our Sages have mapped to get a spiritualiity beyond your dreams.
