A Hippie Chossid?

by Reb Akiva @ Mystical Paths

My father, may he live and be well, caught the following picture in Venice California.  He thought the fellow looks kind of like our Reb Nati… if he’d gone full tilt hippie.  You be the judge…

Many Jews who were searching in the 60’s and went through a hippie phase did move into orthodox Judaism, often into the very spiritual aspects, and became chassidim or students of kabbalah.  Today some of them are teachers of Torah and Orthodox Jewish mysticism… or putting on tefillin at the Kotel.

(Note we’re posting from Israel, where the Jewish holiday of Shavuos has already ended.  For those outside of Israel, the holiday and it’s restrictions on work and computer use are still in effect through Monday night.)
