Thank G-d the rain came…

…And thank G-d it stopped.

G-d pledged to Noah that He will never again destroy the world by flooding, and He set the rainbow as a sign of His promise. (Genesis 9:16) We are to make a blessing when we see a rainbow. It is both a positive sign, and a negative sign. It is positive in that it reminds us of G-d’s promise, and it is negative in that it reminds us of His destroying the world due to its great sins.

A rainbow shows us that the many colors are each individual, beautiful rays of the one light. Not that the one light is made out of the many colors, but that the many colors are made out of the one light.
