Another Good Reason to Eat Only Kosher Food

by Reb Gutman Locks

The nonprofit ocean protection group Oceana took 1,215 samples of fish from across the United States and genetically tested them. They found:

59% of the fish labeled “tuna” sold at restaurants and grocery stores in the US was not tuna.

Sushi restaurants were far more likely to mislabel their fish than grocery stores or other restaurants.

In Chicago, Austin, New York and Washington DC, every single sushi restaurant sampled sold mislabeled tuna.

84% of fish sample labeled “white tuna” were actually (the non-kosher) escolar, a fish that can cause prolonged, uncontrollable, oily anal leakage.

The only fish more likely to be misrepresented than tuna was snapper, which was mislabeled 87% of the time, and was in actuality any of six different species.

This cannot happen if the products have kosher supervision.

  1. Haval, haval, Reb Akiva, the Battleship called Am Yisrael, needs more than Kosher Supervision. Why? Read this.

The Kashrus Agencies need "honesty pills". The lure of $$ NIS NIS seems to be too great for this time period. We need Righteous Rabbis that will daven to Hashem to remove the taivah of money from us.

About fish, we need to be more scrupulous, because of Fukushima one must be assertive in making sure they are not imbibing any type of fish from the Pacific coastal waters of the West Coast of the US and , even Canada's Pacific Coast and MORE.

  2. Time to go vegetarian, less room for questions.

  3. A Good Kosher Supervision should make this "almost" impossible - and it would be interesting to see testing from there also.

    All the best,
