Define Judaism?

excerpted from a Torah note by Rabbi Mordechai Lipskier

th (12)How would you describe Judaism?

The approach of Chassidus is simple yet profound. Judaism is a relationship with Hashem (with G-d).

If we don't recognize our relationship with Him, the details seem petty and burdensome. If we do recognize the relationship, the details are natural and enjoyable. For example, when a husband is in a good relationship with his wife, he won't mind a long shopping list and may even buy some extras. But a husband who's in a bad place will consider each item on the list like a thorn in his side.
