HaRav Yaakov Yosef, zt”l

a1Mystical Paths notes the passing of HaRav Yaakov Yosef, zt”l…

Rabbi Yaakov Chai Yosef, rabbi of the Givat Moshe neighborhood of Jerusalem and son of Shas's spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, Shlita, passed away on Friday afternoon at the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital from cancer at 67 years old.

Rabbi Yosef was born in 1946 in Jerusalem, the second child of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef and the late Margalit Yosef. He studied at Yeshivat Porat Yosef and Yeshivat Kol Torah, at Kollel Kol Yaakov and at the Mossad HaRav Kook in Jerusalem, where he was ordained as a rabbi.

He was a staunch supporter of yishuv haaretz (settling the Land of Israel and the settlement enterprise), and was also the go-to posek for many, including some chassidic yeshivot in Meah Shearim.

In this generation to find a posek who was appreciated and respected by all segments of Jewish society is unfortunately rare and will be missed.

Baruch Dayan HaEmet (Blessed is the True Judge).
