Rosh HaShonoh Meditation

by Reb Aharon Rubin on Mystical Paths

Rosh HaShonoh.

The time of תקיעת שןפר - blowing the Shofar.

Close your eyes.

You are standing before G-d right now.

G-d sees with a glance and KNOWS everything about me,

My innermost thoughts, my travails, my inner battles,

Those fought valiantly and those otherwise;

My triumphs and my aspirations ...

I stand before my Infinitely Loving Father;

I embrace Him, with mind, Soul and heart.

Though I weep with trepidation, I love His embrace,

I want it to laaaaaast..

The Shofar sounds.

The only Mitsvoh [today] from the Torah for Rosh HaShonoh.

I am one with G-d, through this Mitsvoh.

A window to Heaven, an opening to higher worlds, another type of existence, the world of revelation of G-d; the sound of the Shofar….

I allow myself to become enveloped in it, to be transformed;

As I listen to the sound of the Shofar and think only of G-d,

With tears, with longing, with silent prayer, with a beseeching heart,

Crowning Him as King of the world,

Asking Him to reveal His Oneness, His Onlyness,

His unique relationship with us,

G-d stands from His Throne of Strict Judgment and ascends His Throne of Loving Mercy,

He stretches out His Hands to us and joins us,

Joins us in our pain and our joy and our prayers,

And He pleads too for His Only Children.
