at the Western Wall with Reb Gutman Locks on Mystical Paths

He is from Switzerland. He was baptized as a child, and was raised an Xian. But, guess what? His mother is Jewish. For some reason he learned to speak basic Hebrew, but he did not know what Rosh Hashanah is. He is returning to Switzerland, and is dating a non-Jewish girl.

Will he turn and live a Jewish life, or go on as his mother did? Surely, I told him why he should not reject his spiritual inheritance. After all, he was born a Jew for some reason. I pointed out that his discovering that he is Jewish was obviously the reason he came to Jerusalem.

The Torah portion of the week (when this Jew came to the Kotel), referring to the days of Redemption says, “Then Hashem, your G-d… will return and gather you in from all the peoples to which Hashem, your G-d has scattered you.”[i] We are seeing this happen today.

[i] Deuteronomy 30:3
