at the Western Wall with Reb Gutman Locks @ Mystical Paths
(a group of Birthright Jewish teenager tourists putting on tefillin en masse at the Kotel)
Birthright Israel does it again… and again. Oh, and thanks to the help of the men at Chabad of the Kotel, who turn sightseeing tours of the Kotel into spiritual experiences.
nice !
ReplyDeleteToo bad the picture is only of men.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean, Susan B?
ReplyDeleteAre you trying to begin here with a broad discussion of women's role in Judaism?
Just because you didn't see any woman with Tefillin?
You weren't supposed to - at least in this picture.
Perhaps you'd like to research something about our Torah - I mean, not the "reformed one", the "conservative" one, but the original one, as was kept by our Orthodox brothers throughout millennia.
I wouldn't like to make undue assumptions about your background or Torah knowledge, but all I could recommend you is to read more, ask your local Rabbi until you gather a minimum "critical mass" of Jewish knowledge.
Wish you good luck in your research.
Shalom,
RH.
Susan, Mystical Paths does not have any restriction on using pictures of (modestly appearing) women. (We hold that standard of modestly appearing to men also.)
ReplyDeleteReb Gutman has previously shared videos of him speaking to a mix group of teens from the U.S.
If anyone has any special pictures of modest Jewish women they want to share that might be appropriate to the topics of Mystical Paths, feel free to email me. Similarly we are not adverse to accepting articles from women contributors.
