Commandments

Commandments

A non-Jewish man came up to me at the tefillin stand and asked me a few questions about tefillin and Torah. I was surprised that he knew so much about them.

It turned out that he is a pastor from Colorado and had one time put on tefillin!

Someone standing there asked if a goi was allowed put on tefillin.

I told him that it was not forbidden but it would be a big mistake. A gentile should follow his path and not try to mix up his portion and ours.

I told the pastor that instead of worshipping a man/god he should follow the 7 Commandments of Noah and if he did he would have a wonderful life in this world and a share in the World to Come. He asked me what they were, and I briefly explained them to him.

He said, "We're lucky. We only have seven commandments, but Jews have hundreds."

I told him, "Because you see the commandments to be burdens you are happy to have few of them. We see them to be opportunities to serve our loving Father, so if it would be possible, we would like to have even more."

When you love Someone, you are happy to do whatever He wants you to do.
