Happy Emigrants

   by Reb Gutman Locks

Happy Emigrants

The studies show that "Palestinian" arabs who emigrated to Chile have assimilated into the Chilean society and are much happier in Chile than they were when they lived in Israel.

The studies also show that Russian Jews who emigrated from Russia to Israel have assimilated into the Israeli society and are much happier here than they were in Russia.

The obvious solution to Palestinian arab joy is for them to emigrate to Chile, and for the Russian Jews to be happy they should come live here in Israel.

     A win/win solution.

A huge extra benefit is when more Jews come and live in the Land, the Holiness of the Land increases, more Torah becomes available, more mitzvahs are done, and these all increase the speed of the Redemption. We should help the arabs who live in Israel go be happy in Chile and help the Russian Jews come live in Israel so they will be happy. It will be good for everyone.

Halevai, that each and every one of them decides to emigrate, whether to Chile or elsewhere!
It's very nice that Russian Jews have immigrated, but, sadly, 3/4 of them are not Jewish. The idea of wanting to convert them is as wrong as can be. The only converts that are truly considered Jewish are those who yearn for it. We pray that every Jewish neshama comes home to Eretz Yisrael.

Couldn't agree with you more. I know some such "converts" quite well - ones intermarried with Jews to please their husbands and gain social status and money ( most of the time it's Russian Jewish men who marry Shiksas) and then the charade begins. An absolute disgrace, and a thorn in our sides: they bring in their foreign culture while "converted", even while following Mitzvot ( because otherwise their husbands would divorce them). But it's all one big circus, it's phoney, it's a joke, a very sad joke. I think Russian men should get one very strong warning from rabbis, to desist from this practice; but it is unfortunately so embedded in their culture, so socially acceptable among them that they don't think twice about it. It seems to me rabbis should intervene and stop this falsehood once and for all, and REFUSE to convert non-Jewish Russian women already married to Russian Jewish men.

Do you agree?

DS: I agree with you wholeheartedly! In the last three decades or so, we have created a new Erev Rav society, r'l. Am sure the Jewish agency knew very well what they were doing when they allowed this majority to immigrate to Yisrael. They wanted a mixed multitude within our peoople, c'v. Moshiach will take care of that problem because he will immediately who is a Jew.
