- U.S. Presidential Candidate faints at 9/11 event, Speculation begins.  With a U.S. presidential candidate fainting and appearing to be in ill health at a 9/11 commemoration event, speculation begins on what will happen if she can’t continue.  Should a candidate drop out, the Democratic Committee has rules…”if there is a vacancy on the national ticket, a special meeting of the Committee (will be held) where they would choose a new candidate. Such meetings make decisions based on a majority of those in attendance. (Meaning a small group of committee members get to pick whoever they want.)”  What about if she has to withdraw after the election takes place, but before she is sworn in? If a candidate withdraws after the general election, but before the electoral college meets, federal law says that electors can vote for whomever they want. Should a candidate win the election (being voted on by the electoral college) but become incapacitated (or quit or pass away) prior to the inauguration, then Section 3 of the 20th Amendment kicks in, the Vice President-elect would become President.

- US-Israel defense support (funding) agreement gets hung up over Whitehouse-Congress argument.  Israel and the Obama administration have agreed on a military aid package for aid to Israel over the next 10 years. But the White House is reluctant to sign the deal because officials are upset one leading lawmaker won’t go along: Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.).  “The Israeli prime minister told me the administration is refusing to sign the deal until I agree to change my appropriation markup,” Graham said. “I said, ‘Tell the administration to go F themselves.’ I’m offended that the administration would try to take over the appropriations process. We can’t have the executive branch dictating what the legislative branch will do for a decade based on an agreement we are not a party to.”  Even if the result is a good deal for Israel, the U.S. senator is right that the administration continues to violate U.S. government process and separation of powers.  Israel is stuck in the middle in this one.

- Israeli Govt predicts Programmer Shortage, kicks off Aliyah campaign for Developers.  The Prime Minister has ordered the establishment of an inter-ministerial team that will deal with encouraging Jewish engineers and software developers to work in Israel.  The team will be responsible for examining the possibility of offering Jewish engineers a unique benefit track.  If you work in hi-tech, there’s many job options in Israel!

- Turkey blows up, again – 11 wounded in bombing of ruling party office in southern Turkey.  A large explosion on Monday that rocked the city of Van in Turkey's restive southeast targeted the provincial offices of the ruling AK Party and wounded 11 people.  It appears after extensively being targeted by the government during a declared cease fire that Kurdish rebels in Turkey are now striking back.

- 6 shot, 1 killed at end of Peace Rally in Alabama.  Birmingham police said all six victims were innocent bystanders.  Police said the shootings took place after a peace rally ended, the “Stop the Violence Gate City Peace Day.”  Police are searching for suspects.  Rally…unfortunately unsuccessful.
