Mitzpe Ramon is a valley in Israel’s Negev Desert that includes a meteor impact crater and volcanic formations, with the town poised on the cliff edge of the valley. Besides being very hot…it’s awesome!
Ok, it’s a national site, and they’ve got nice safe viewing platforms and the cliff edge walled nicely. BUT…if you want to go around and hang out on a cliff edge with a mile-high death defying drop, you’re welcome to do so.
If you look careful at this one, besides the people climbing on a cliff edge, you’ll see a distant road passing through the valley far below, which gives you an idea of how high up this is.
The view is stunning. I’m on the nice safe viewing platform, no cliff edges for me.
Most of the pictures I’ve posted in the past have been trips north in Israel, but the south is incredible as well!
At the bottom right of this picture, somebody climbed over the cliff wall and carved a poem into the rock in Hebrew and English.
Mitzpe Ramon, stop by in the Holy Land!
And they have wild mountain goats!
(with signs that say don’t feed the goats)
