If you find yourself wondering about the purpose of creation, especially your role in it, and you begin to ask such questions as; "What am I supposed to be doing here?" Or, if perhaps you think that you are just an advanced form of animal whose only job is to hunt and make babies…or, could it be that maybe human beings have a greater purpose? And you begin to search for your actual purpose.
If you are really interested in finding a higher reason for your having been placed here, you will find yourself reaching in. First you will reach into your mind… your thoughts, asking "Why?" Then you will want to reach even deeper, into your actual life, your being, the force that sustains you from within your body. What is its nature? Where is it coming from? Where does it go when it's over?
Reaching in deeply, inevitably leads to reaching up, looking for the Creator, the One Who puts it all here. If you succeed somewhat in this search, and you find that indeed there is a Creator, and that this Creator does have a purpose in having created you and having placed you in the world, then, you will find yourself reaching out…, reaching out to others, trying to help them in any way that you can.
When you see that the purpose of creation is to bring goodness into the world, you will automatically begin to emulate your Creator. You will try to bring goodness wherever you are. And this is the meaning of, "You shall be holy, because I am holy…" [i]
