Missing the Point – It’s Jerusalem!

by Reb Akiva @ Mystical Paths

To freak out or not to freak out, that is the question.

We’ve done so many rounds of ‘what if’, ‘the tzadik’s predictions’, ‘geulah pronouncements’.  It’s not the point.  This is NOT about a tzadik’s predictions.  It’s not about someone’s geulah pronouncements or speculation about how some deeds of some actor on the world stage might possibly could be maybe tied into some obscure prediction from the Gemora or Zohar.

This has nothing to do with Palestinian claims to some territory in Eastern Israel (or claiming all of Israel – which is their real claim and goal, also besides the point).

How did I miss this until just now?

It has EVERYTHING to do with JERUSALEM.  It has to come down to the heart, and this is a stab right at the heart.  The heart of the Jewish people, Jerusalem.

The world voting for a Palestinian State “with East Jerusalem as it’s capital” is the world voting to DIVIDE JERUSALEM.  (This is not speculation or trying to extend a meaning – watch the text of the UN resolution when it’s released, it will directly state “with East Jerusalem as it’s capital”.)  And a vote by the United Nations to divide Jerusalem is an explicit invocation of biblical prophecy.  (The quotes of the world coming to divide Jerusalem are too numerous to mention here {takes time to gather them all up}, but the prophesied results of such are well known.)

Reb Dov bar Leib and I have been chatting about long hashkafic explanations of how and why we can be where we are, how we can be entering geulah and messianic events without the public appearance of Moshiach (whether he be Ben Yosef or Ben Dovid, or one then the other).  Yet, an explanation to understand how we got here, and to some extent why, is irrelevant.  And aligning world events with all the supporting pasukim is irrelevant.

Because we are (possibly) days away from explicitly invoking biblical prophecy.

Will it actually happen? I have no idea.  G-d has repeatedly been merciful and clearly delayed or slowed down the events of the geulah again and again.  Opportunity to prepare, spiritually and physically, have been afforded again and again. (So don’t ask me what’s my excuse – I don’t have one!)

What’s that mean?  I have no idea beyond the actual words of the navi’im (biblical prophets), who’s words of prophecy in the past all came true.  But if things start winding up at the end of this week, grab your Tanach (Torah with Prophets), Gemora and Zohar, because we’re in for a wild ride.  (As is the whole world – and wild is the nice way of putting it.)

Has the world been warned?  Does it know what it’s about to do?  The Western Nations are founded on or with large majorities of Christianity, which uses the Torah as a foundational work.  It’s literally in every bible and in every language of every Western nation (Europe, the U.S., Canada, etc), every Catholic oriented nation (Mexico, the nations of Central America and South America), and much of Africa.  The Arab nations, Muslim nations and even Persia use the Koran, which for many of them is built right into their legal system and in most partially memorized as part of the education.  The Koran itself ALSO recognizes that the Land of Israel is given to the Jews.

It may be the peoples of the Eastern nations, India, China, and the Asian nations don’t know.  Their considerations are realpolitik and only narrow national interest.  They may have an excuse.

The rest of the world? Biblical prophecy is in your hand, and because of your actions (possibly) about to be at hand.  Don’t say you don’t know because it’s right in that bible on your shelf.

Just because the xtian religion has written an ending to the bible does not mean that is the way it is going to be. We are told not to listen to the prophets of other religions. Our prophets are accurate.
I refuse to accept their ending. I prefer to listen to our prophets and seers.
Israel will be a burdensome stone, and anyone who tries to meddle with her will be cut to pieces. Israels' borders are to Hashem the borders that HE sets, not the dotted lines that WE draw.
Israel is the beautiful and the holy land and will be the seat of Moshiach, and where the law will come from. Hashem says that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Hashem and that there is none other besides him. Every nation will open their mouth in amazement when they see who the real moshiach is. I say, that means they will realize that they have been wrong all this time.
Oh yes, lots of prophecy finally coming to fruition this week. But I don't think a single word of our prophets will fail.
When Yaakov goes to Se'ir to take back his inheritance.
So I don't have all of the right words. But I have to say again, THEY are playing checkers, but Hashem is playing Chess. And every move is one brilliant step closer to check mate; they just fail perfectly for Him every time. Because of their Avodah Zarah. You cannot practice idolatry and have any idea how to please Hashem.

I take issue with the following statement: " G-d has repeatedly been merciful and clearly delayed or slowed down the events of the geulah again and again."

A delay in our redemption is not a blessing, it's a curse and a punishment. We know that if we have merit, it comes early.

Condemning a laboring woman to a long and protracted birth increases her suffering and brings her and the baby near to death.

THIS is what we are facing and experiencing and it's not mercy, it's judgment, because we are so unworthy of redemption at all. At least see the situation for what it really is.

Reb Akiva, Devash, others

I am confused, not only by the issue of whether the delaying of events with regard to the Geulah is a blessing or curse, but also the general theme within the Geulah blogs over whether things will happen with or without bloodshed, miracles or natural phenomena, over whether the Jewish people are worthy or unworthy, joy at events unfolding or doom & gloom and other such schisms in opinion.

Sure, as the saying goes "two Jews, three opinions" though the question it comes down to at the end of the day is which opinion is valid.

For people who believe in the Jewish redemption, nobody wants to discover that all they have invested in is a lie and I personally do not see why a person should be held to account for holding on to an invalid opinion with regard to the Geulah.

Jesterhead45, all that really matters is "where are you?" Do you have a relationship with the G-d of Israel? If yes, strengthen that relationship. In that you can rejoice. Do what you can to help you neighbor, as R' Gutman is always teaching.

Not so apparently good stuff happens everyday. People are dying everyday. We continue, even through the tears. Everything is for the very best - even when the world wants to destroy us. Like Rav Shalom Arush, shlita is always telling us, Hashem loves us more than we can imagine. We just need to 'wake up' to that reality!

Thank you R' Akiva for this blog.

Is this the Prophecy? said...

Just curious, Why is this an explicit invocation of biblical prophecy? Jerusalem has been split before as in '48 and '67. And if you are referring to Yechezkel 14. It say there, that ALL the Nations will ATTACK Yerushalayim . I really would like to know the answer. Thanks.

Shalom all, I am Ariela, please explain to me why many Jews are not supporting Israel and going Home? Is it fear, lack of Emunah? Why do some Jews even are anti-zionest? And could it be with all the division in the Jewish nation today, that also ertz Israel is being divided too? What do you think would bring the Jewish people together?

Actually as Baba Sali and others have predicted Moshiach did already arrive in 5771, but he has not yet declared himself openly. Each person needs to recognize Moshiach for himself. This may not be that easy, since he will appear as an ordinary man, still incognito, until most people acknowledge him. The way to recognize him is thru his words or the message that he brings - the message of peace, brotherhood and justice. See http://www.moshiachishere.org/
