A brief note on Purim morning. We’d like to deeply and sincerely thank all those who donated to our Purim Campaign to help the poor in Israel for Purim and fulfill the mitzvah of matanot l’evyonim, gifts to the poor for Purim.
Every donation was received and every amount makes a difference. As always we are amazed at people’s kindness and generosity and received donations from all over the world. While individually we each have our circumstances and limitations, together…well, just wow!
In a short time we’re off to synagogue to daven shacharis (pray the morning prayer) and hear the megillah (the reading of the book of Esther). When that ends our part begins as we (discretely and in a respectful manner) visit the poor to distributed YOUR gifts to them on Purim day – fulfilling the mitzvah, relieving some of their burdens and given them a (further) reason to be b’simcha (happy) on Purim.
We’ve reviewed our methods with our supervising rabbi to be sure the mitzvah is fulfilled properly, redeemed checks, converted currency, and are ready to go.
May Hashem bless you that you are always and generously able to give.
Purim Samayach – Happy Purim!
