Early Morning Slichot
by Reb Gutman Locks @ mystical paths
It’s tough for some of us to stay awake so early in the morning.
Early in the morning, during the month of Elul (the current month), we say slichot prayers (prayers for forgiveness). The Sephardim say them for the entire month, while the Chassidim and Ashkenazim say them from a week or two before Rosh Hashanah.
We say them up until Yom Kippur. These prayers prepare us for Rosh Hashanah when we come before the King to have our yearly spiritual and physical portions set aside.
