Can You Ignore It?

by Reb Akiva at Mystical Paths

If I choose to march through the streets of my U.S. city next week with a sign that says...

STERILIZE ALL ( Black or Hispanic or Asian or Catholics or Same-Gender Folks)

I'd go to jail. I'd be investigated for hate crimes. My racism would be FRONT PAGE NEWS. My family would be impinged, my community would carry a stain upon it. America of this time has done a good job decreasing racisim, sexism, ethnicity bias to a small wacko-edge.

Yet somehow the following is OK in America. Today it's become acceptable to attack...me. (Los Angeles, March 2010)

Draw your own conclusions.

No doubt about it. It's getting worse in the States. Even those racists who were more or less "in the closet" are coming out. Those who wonder why I want to leave the US for Israel don't seem to understand that in asking they've answered their own question. Yes, up until recently all I believed about Israel was the disinformation from the US media. The more I researched, the more I realized that Israel is where I want to be. Why those who've actually got the means and wherewithal to move aren't on a plane to Israel is beyond me. I'd be gone in a heartbeat, if I could. Oh well, in HaShem's time and if it's His will, I'll get there.

not to play devil's advocate BUt this could be considered a small wacko edge group and also racism and sexism still ABOUNDS in the USA- believe me if you speak out against you will be accused of being POLITICALLY CORRECT chav v'shalom!

You can toss around fringe group and politically correct until the cows come home, you and I both know that times have changed. The message that you have been waiting for has come - it's time to get out.

I left last summer, and life is so much better here! I cannot urge you enough - leave now. Ask yourself this honest question and then stick to your answer, what sign would be enough for you to acknowledge that it's time to come home? You will see this sign soon. Please stop waiting, Hashem will care for you here, just as there. Have faith - get moving.

There is no comparison from the greatest place you can think of to this place. It is where you need to be, so make it happen.

these are wacko fringeys for sure.
but, the big problem is: how many liberal/lefties will hate jews for opposing obama on israel...
when israel goes after iran's nukes, that may be the point.
many in america support israel...but the leftists control the gov't and the media (sounds familiar to israel).
the outrageous thing is how there is no outcry about obamas treatment of bibi vs kaddafi.
yes, aliyah is the best idea.

Whereas those pictured might be from the fringe, I can tell you that anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism and anti-Judaism are all growing by leaps and bounds in my redneck of the woods and it's not just a few conservative kooks! Even educated people, whom one might brand as being liberal, are talking some serious smack these days. It doesn't help that the media is focusing attention on certain financial crimes and alleged crimes, while blaming Israel for not complying with the demands of the US administration and following Obama's example of kowtowing to the Nations. It's the same old story! The worse things get the more the Nations will blame the Jews. It's getting uglier and uglier here in the States. I want out!

i hear you...it's hard to tell...how many are 'palin-loving tea party lovers of israel' and how many are jew-haters. and you're right...even those that love israel..who knows how thin their skin is....
the main point is that a jewish soul needs to be in israel.

If jewish soul needs to be in israel why is our spiritual powerbase the heredim still in moncey , flatbush, boro park , crown heights , los angelas , baltimore, paris , london , montreal , etc etc ?

Anonymous, I can assure you that our spiritual powerbases are much moreso in B'nei B'rak and Me'ah Sh'arim than any of the places you mentioned above. In Monsey, most of our youth are rebels; Boro Park has scandal after scandal erupting one right after the other; Crown Heights no longer has the Rebbe; Los Angeles, well, we do have a prominent Jewish community, but I'm not used to hearing it talked about as one of the top; and both London and Paris have seen a stark rise in anti-Semitism to the point where men cannot wear kippot in the street or have their tzitzit hanging out, and people from there are making Aliya in droves. Baltimore, Flatbush, and Montreal might be safe for now, but give them time; I'm sure things will start heating up there very quickly, at the rate things are going elsewhere. By contrast, Israel (and in particular the two places I mentioned above) has more g'dolim and ba'alei t'shuvah than they know what to do with. I'm curious, though, as long as you mentioned all the places we are supposedly strong in Chutz La'Aretz, why did you neglect to include Lakewood, Williamsburg, and Passaic? (Actually, now that I think about it, my comment on Boro Park was really more for Williamsburg, but still....)
