Lag B'Omer in Meron - Down the Hill

Lag B'Omer in Meron was amazing. As I said in the Live posts, the top of the hill at the kever (tomb) was massive holiness and celebration wrapped together.

Down the hill was a festival atmosphere. Tents and booths of all sorts were set up, people selling holy seforim, giving free refreshments, raising money for various worthy causes...

Here Yad L'Achim ('A Hand for Your Brother') is offering light refreshments...

Kol B'Rama, the Voice of the Heights radio, was broadcasting live from Meron (from someone's roof!)...

Some enterprising fellow or shul was raising money to write a Sefer Torah. That's a sefardi-style Torah case (empty). Donors get a free box of candles to throw onto a bonfire...

This fellow was doing one better. He was writing a Sefer Torah on the spot! Only NIS 10 (ten shekels) for him to write a letter in your merit while you watch, a bit more if you want to help write the letter! I think this was a gimmick though, as the result was problematic...

Here a kabbalist offers to perform the Tikun Kodesh (the Holy Repair) good for finding a marriage partner, having children, a good income, and peace between husband and wife. This is the only tent I saw like this, clearly some showmanship to gain interest in his yeshiva or way to connect to Hashem...

Each location had it's own portable power and sound system, most blasting Lag B'Omer music. The total atmosphere was simply stunning.

Rav Mordechai Efergen is cool. It is incredible how his simple brachas can help so many people. He does a thing with taking the letters of your name and making it into a bracha.

He travels the country trying to raise money for his yeshiva in Lod which also tries to do outreach and prevent Jewish girls from being with Arabs.
