Motzie Shabbat Under a Red Moon

by Reb Akiva at Mystical Paths

The Kotel, the holy remnant of the 2nd Beis Hamikdash, the Holy Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, is beautiful on motzie Shabbat (Saturday night, after Shabbos). It's busy but quiet, and the greater plaza area is also acting as a social meeting ground.

Chassidim are sharing Torah thoughts for the week, some tourists are planning the next holy site to visit, a few families have come to be together. A group of young men is in the back of the prayer area, singing and dancing. Some fathers are arriving with their sons in tow, the ladies section is busy.

As I looked up, I watched a Lunar eclipse! A sign of a moment of negative mazel for the Jewish people, the thought clashed with the quiet beauty of the moment. Jerusalem fell under a 3/4 Lunar eclipse, may Hashem have mercy (still in progress as I write this).

Mishpacha magazine, a nice Jewish religious magazine targeted at the frum community, had a major article this past week on a dream we shared here a few weeks ago, about an elderly rav who was a talmid (student) of the Chafetz Chaim, perhaps the last student of the Chafetz Chaim still alive, who had a dream of his teacher from so many years ago, specifically instructing him to inform everyone that the time of Moshiach is very close. Mishpacha interviewed the rav directly, who confirmed the story. Our occasional teen contributor Chavi pinged me on this, noting that the chassidic rebbe's and the sephardi mekubalim have been talking seriously about Moshiach and geulah for some time now. This is the first time, however, we see the Litvish world getting involved.

As the world moves into more risk and chaos, and America is about to suffer another monthly natural disaster, let us pray that Hashem brings us the geulah mamosh now, according to the kind path.

My reaction would be the end of that gemara in Succah 29a:
ובזמן שישראל עושין רצונו של מקום אין מתיראין מכל אלו שנאמר (ירמיהו י) כה אמר ה' אל דרך הגוים אל תלמדו ומאותות השמים אל תחתו כי יחתו הגוים מהמה גוים יחתו ואין ישראל יחתו

interesting to note that in the article Rav Shacne Zohn , the Rav who had the dream twice with the chofetz chaim telling him that Moshiach is about to come , refers to a sefer he wrote in which he records the words of Reb Moshe Feinstein who told him that Moshiach is already active in the world.

I don't think it's just that the 'Litvish' are now discussing this inyan. I believe the Avreichim are keeping up with all the online prophecies.

To me it speaks mostly that the dream came twice and to one of the Chofetz Chaim's zt"l students, and it appeared in a worldwide published magazine - this all together give it credibility. Why even my husband was very taken by the article.

You can read alot of exciting things via online blogs/email, but when they finally appear in print, with an impressive interview, there is NO ONE who could possibly dispute the authenticity or hashgocha pratis for all of Klal Yisroel in this B"H historical era we are living in.

B"H that we are seeing with our eyes and reading with our mind's eye something that Hashem wants us to know obviously, especially when the article appeared in the 'Nachamu Nachamu Ami' time-frame with an eclipse overhead for all but America (?).

And as The Rebbe told us, we will read about Moshiach's arrival in the newspapers, it will be publicized for all to see.

PS Does anyone know the name and address of that tailor who is making certain members of Geula and Meah Shearim "begadim to greet Moshiach" ?

{After giving the significance of a solar or lunar eclipse... ) But at a time that Israel is doing the will of Hashem, they need not fear from any of this, for it is stated (in Yirmiyahu perek 10 pasuk 2) "thus saith the LORD: Learn not the way of the nations, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the nations are dismayed at them."

The nations are dismayed, but Israel is not dismayed.

despite the fact that NO ONE could possibly dispute this, I do.

Aside from the general hashgacha pratis, I think that this idea that a lot of what you hear on blogs and such is overhyped, and is people trying to work themselves into a frenzy -- the same way people have worked themselves into a frenzy in the past. The internet makes a lot more data available, which gives people who are prone to it more fodder to make such claims.

Boker Tov to all.
Josh, I agree wholeheartedly. Quite awhile ago someone mentioned the book "True Believer," by Eric Hoffer. Since I have found it and highly recommmend it.
Before the Geulah, the Yom Y-WH is to occur, and the nevi'im have told us that it will be a time of death and terror.
While I yearn for the redemption of our people, along with it I yearn for the other nations of the world to come to the truth. Will it be "good" that 2/3 of the world will die?
No, let us concentrate on ourselves and lovingkindness day by day...strenthening each other...teaching the stranger when he is interested...following the mitzvot...following after tsayneeot. Rav Yochanan ben Zakkai summarized it eloquently: first plant the sapling, then go see the Moshiach.
V'ahavat Yisrael, to all. Each day: follow Torah, respect all others, and love HaShem.
Whereever I set my foot is Eretz Yisrael.
Shalom v'l'chayyim,

BS"D
To Yesha Galuzzo
You wrote "Before the Geulah, the Yom Y-WH is to occur, and the nevi'im have told us that it will be a time of death and terror."
1. Give a source, please.
2. Rambam, the ONLY Halakhik authority who paskened about the Moshiach and Geula, DOES NOT mention any of the above as Halocho. Are you disagreeing with the RAMBAM?
You wrote, "Will it be "good" that 2/3 of the world will die? No"
1. Again, don't pasken own halocha on the Redemption.
2. Agodos and Midrashim are NOT halacha. Rambam is the only one, when it comes to these inyonim.
You write, "Rav Yochanan ben Zakkai summarized it eloquently: first plant the sapling, then go see the Moshiach."
1. You seem to pasken straigt out of Gemara, bypassing other poskim. Kol Hakavod
:-)

Let's liten to the Rambam as the Halocha LeMaase and to the Prophet of our generation, the Lubavitcher Rebbe shlit"a
