Halachic Kung Fu

by Reb Akiva at Mystical Paths

(Kung Fu, a Chinese martial art, is renowned for using an opponents force and motion against him.)

Hirhirim has an interesting discussion of a recent halachic ruling by the rabbi of Ofra, a West Bank Jewish town, permitting construction projects with non-Jewish workers to continue building on Shabbat.

In a bit of impressive halachic kung-fu, he uses the Satmar Rav's position that "there is currently no mitzvah to settle the land" to prove that building on the Land on Shabbat is permitted.

Well worth a read.

  1. FYI, it's not kung fu, but rather things like aikido or judo that use opponents force.

I'm waiting for Heaven to use the heavenly kung fu, or whatever, to bring Satmar chassidim to the west bank, to build and settle it, and to walk it's hills with their stockings and bekeshers, hearding their sheep... Kein yehi ratzon, amen!!!
