Forgive me for a moment while I resume my political ranting, for I can barely believe the idiocy and can barely restrain my words...
- UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon says, "While recognizing Israel's right to defend itself, I condemn the disproportionate and excessive use of force that has killed and injured so many civilians, including children. I call on Israel to cease such attacks. Israel must fully comply with international humanitarian law and exercise the utmost restraint. Incidents in which civilians have been killed or injured must be investigated and accountability must be ensured."
As I've stated before, I AGREE with this type of statement. Israel's response should be proportionate, it should prepare 90 anti-personnel artillery shells (the number fired at Israeli civilians in the last 3 days) and fire them directly at Gaza civilian targets. THAT would be proportionate!
Instead, Israel carefully targets enemy soldiers and weapons depots and supply locations. If the enemy chooses to place themselves or their weapons in the middle of high density civilian areas, that's not Israel's problem.
Mr. Secretary General Moon, your words and position are idiocy.
- Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak says, "The big military operation is actual and concrete. We are not eager for it [but] are not deterred by it."
Dear Mr. Barak, not to hurt your feelings or anything, but your enemy is an arab terrorist organization who plays with your body parts, bathes in your blood, and is teaching their children to eat you. You might want to sound just a little bit more decisive and, oh I don't know, strong? I mean, you're not fighting Belgium here.
You're not going to win the propaganda war anyway, so trying to sound Western European is a waste of time AND EMBOLDENS YOUR ENEMY. Getting the enemy to fear you IS a battle strategy AND reduces casualties. Weak talk at war time is ... idiocy.
- UPDATED - Previously here was a quote attributed to Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai, with him supposedly saying the palestinians were in for a holocaust. That's not, however, what he actually said. See update here.
// End Rant
While this is going on, the O-U (the Orthodox Union) just approved a statement for a Palestinian State. But, that's a future rant.
