Yesterday an attack upon a rav (rabbi) of Yeshivat Ateret Kohanim was reported by the news. The rav was attacked while walking to the yeshiva with a bodyguard, being stabbed. His attacker escaped.
Approximately 1 hour later, a man wearing a yalmuka entered the yeshiva of the Breslov Tzaddik of Meah Shearim, HaRav Shalom Arush, shlita, asking to see the rav. He wandered the yeshiva asking for the rav, becoming increasingly agitated when not immediately pointed to him. Finally, ascertaining where the rav's office was located, he began moving there in a violent and forceful manner. Calls for help went out, and one of the yeshiva members who was a trained security agent in his former life confronted the assailant. The man immediately began to attack the yeshiva member, attempting to penetrate the tzaddik's office.
With thanks to Hashem, the yeshiva member was able to disable the assailant, then removing him from the yeshiva building. Israeli security forces were already present in the area (the yeshiva is a 15 minute walk from the spot of the Ateres Kohanim attack 1 hour earlier), they took charge of the assailant and whisked him away. Events happened too quickly for the yeshiva member to determine if the assailant was armed or not (if he was, he did not have a chance to draw his weapon, the attack on the rav of Ateres Kohanim was via knife).
This is the second time in a week that the Breslov Tzaddik of Meah Shearim (Jerusalem, Israel) and author of the popular Jewish sefer The Garden of Emunah, HaRav HaTzaddik HaChossid Rav Shalom Arush, shlita, has been targeted by negative forces.
May Hashem protect the tzaddikim and all of Klal Yisroel through these difficult times!
Rav Brody posted these words at Lazer Beams from HaRav Arush, shlita, yesterday...
* There is no military solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict;
* There is no viable political solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict;
* The security situation here is worsening because of spiritual apathy;
* Hashem has put the people of Israel in a situation where nothing can help them but teshuva, prayer, and hafatza (spreading emuna). There is no government in Israel that can solve today's problems.
* Hitbodedut (personal prayer to Hashem) on Purim can achieve miraculous salvations.
Rav Shalom is neither an alarmist nor a doomsday prophet. Yet, he's terribly troubled about Israel's predicament. He urges everyone to devote at least 10 minutes a day in praying for the Jewish people in the Land of Israel.
