It Begins.

by Akiva at Mystical Paths

As I type this, Tisha B'Av, the day of pain and destruction for K'lal Yisroel, begins in Eretz Yisroel (the Land of Israel). I won't go into the meaning of the day (click the link above for some educational material) here.

The Talmud in Sanhedrin (97a) says "Ein ben Dovid bo ad she'ys'yayshu min hageulah", the Son of Dovid (HaMelech, aka Moshiach) doesn't come until we despair in the coming of the Geulah.

Today, Middle East peace monger & former British PM Tony Blair arrived in Israel, scheduled to meet with PM Olmert tomorrow. That's right, on Tisha B'Av.

Yesterday, former US President Carter offered to 'mediate' between Hamas and the PLO. They accepted.

Yesterday, the Israeli Ministry of Education approved the Nakba curriculum, educating Israeli Arabs how the Jews destroyed them and to hate Israel and the Jews.

Iran and Mexico against the US and Israel???

The competition for who hates Israel the most is heating up. That's not despair generating though. The fact that MOST of the Israeli government is in the competition, that is.

Hashem should help!

Tonight R. Nati is headed to Jerusalem, to sit by the Kotel and mourn for the destruction of the Beis HaMikdash, to mourn that our Father's house sits in ruins, that G-d's obvious presence is pushed out of this world. Yet, he'll also be sitting there with camera, MP3 recorder, and cell phone, to catch the pictures of and alert us to the arrival of the 3rd Beis HaMikdash and Moshiach Tzidkaynu.

For now, at least, some of us refuse to despair.

We'll have some Tisha B'Av posts up later. We hope everyone has an easy fast. I don't add "meaningful", for it's hard to mourn for that which it's been so so long since we've known. But to yearn to be closer to Hashem, and stand in His Holy House, when so much in our time works to distract us, distance us, and now to threaten us, that I can do.

RIBONO SHEL OLAM, AD MOSAI?????
