Virtual Life

by Akiva at Mystical Paths

Did I go to work today, or was it that I saw a movie about a man going to work today? While in the office, did we talk about a guy suing a dry cleaners about lost pants, or wait, was that a TV show about a guy suing about lost pants?

I thought I went to the bank, though perhaps it was a movie theatre. There were comfy chairs, a huge screen with moving pictures, and surround sound audio. I asked the teller, or perhaps it was the concession stand lady, do you have long lines to offer this wonderful service of wide screen entertainment. She looked at me a bit strange and said no. Perhaps that was because I was at a movie theatre that permitted bank deposits?

I don't know what's going on. No, wait, that's not true, I know too much of what's going on! When I step in my office elevator, or ... wait ... maybe it's really the break room, one for really short breaks ... I get the news headlines, weather, Dow Jones average, and of course some ads. As I noted above, either the bank is providing wide screen entertainment, or the theatre is providing banking services. The department store is providing aisle TV, or maybe it's the TV store that has started selling clothes.

I went into the home office lunchroom. Six huge wall covering TV's, blasting at full volume. Or .. was .. it? Maybe I made a wrong turn and wandered into a TV control room.

Oh I'm so confused. Everywhere I turn there seems to be a TV thrust in my face. Am I having a nightmare where the world has decided to thrust its values into my mind? Or, is the world trying to thrust it's values into my mind??? Grocery store checkout TV, bank TV, elevator TV, office lunchroom TV, commuter train TV, rental car company TV, airplane TV, airport TV, doctors office TV, and of course my cell phone company would like me to watch cell phone TV.

May I have my mind back please? Or wait, wasn't that the complaint of that guy on that show? Is it me, or am I remembering an episode?
