In my previous post, I wrote about an illusionist, a man who creates illusions for your entertainment. That's his expertise, and you know it going in.
The "News Media" in theory has a job of informing you of events. Not making events, not creating an illusion to create a story that isn't there, not selecting the odd angle and presenting it as the norm and whole.
But that is what they are doing. A must read by Michael Totten, where he quotes this...
Christopher Hitchens...writes the following:
I have actually seen some of these demonstrations, most recently in Islamabad, and all I would do if I were a news editor is ask my camera team to take several steps back from the shot. We could then see a few dozen gesticulating men (very few women for some reason), their mustaches writhing as they scatter lighter fluid on a book or a flag or a hastily made effigy. Around them, a two-deep encirclement of camera crews. When the lights are turned off, the little gang disperses. And you may have noticed that the camera is always steady and in close-up on the flames, which it wouldn't be if there was a big, surging mob involved.
It's not just don't believe everything you hear and see on the media, it's worse than that. Avoid, challenge, because you're been fed anything to keep you watching. Remember, their job IS NOT to inform, it's to keep your eyes glued, that's how they make money. And clearly they will do ANYTHING to do that.
