Discussing The Terrorist Next Door...
Josh commented: Hashem yerachem. Is it not obvious where the world is heading? The west's falling birthrates make it obligatory to accept immigrants in order to keep the economy stable and growing (i.e. consumers)...
On one hand, we saw how the Jews immigrated to the west and almost committed suicide by mass assimilation, on the other hand, we see that Yousef is not as weak and specifically saying that it will rule the world, country by country. Hello?!
As part of the Geulah, the yidden are going to be gathered from the 4 corners of the world. G-d willing, this should be in the positive way of being drawn to a desire to be in the Holy Land, the place where the Shechina shines through.
But, G-d forbid, it may also require being frightened out of our complacency and apparent feelings of security in what's considered home.
There's a solid custom of leaving a part of the house unfinished in reminder of the destruction of the Beis HaMikdash (the Holy Temple in Jerusalem), and the associated status of exile of the Shechina. Seems to me this custom has fallen into disuse in America.
That itself is a sign.
