In Israel for this Monday, a call has been issued to Chabad hassidim to join the march to Gush Katif. Most Chabad rabbi's in Israel, in line with the writings and speeches of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in the past, strongly support Gush Katif and efforts to preserve the land of Israel (click the poster for more info):
Yeranen Yaakov has up a translation from Ledavid.net, which states that leading Sephardic rabbi's have weighed in:
In an urgent letter that was distributed today in many synagogues, the former chief rabbis - Harav Hagaon Avraham Shapira Shlit"a and Harav Hagaon, the Rishon Letzion Rav Mordechai Eliyahu Shlit"a - call upon the public to come and join them in the "Engagement March" which will take place this coming Monday. On the letter which was signed by the rabbis Shlit"a, it says:
Unfortunately, the Israeli Government has decided to expel thousands of Israelis - complete families, men, women, and children - from their homes and land, in which they lived for about 3 generations. This decision is against Halacha, justice, and human dignity, which a comparable thing has never been done before. It is incumbant upon all of us to strengthen ourselves with strength to help and encourage [the Gush Katif residents] and to prevent their expulsion. It is not a time to be silent העת לכם אתם לשבת בבתיכם ספונים והבית הזה חרב Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your cieled houses, while this house lieth waste? We are all called to be ready, armed to go, for the sake of our mighty brothers, ye mighty in strength, that fulfil His word.
We call upon all our Jewish brothers to join us and to join our mighty brothers in Gush Katif, to remove the siege, to cancel the expulsion, and to raise up families for settlement in the area. We call upon all our brothers to unite, to focus our efforts and to work with all their strength to the success of the project, and it is incumbant upon all of us during these days to focus only on this project to cancel this horrible decree. We should strenghten ourselves with prayer in abundance, and prayer from the depths of the heart, that the gates of Heaven should be split open, and that Hashem should cancel from us all evil decrees. עת צרה היא ליעקב וממנה ניוושע and it is a time of trouble unto Jacob, but out of it shall we be saved. We call upon the public to say Tehillim chapter 121 after every prayer, until the decree is nullified.
חזק ונתחזק בעד עמנו ובעד ערי אלוקינו Be of good courage, and let us prove strong for our people, and for the cities of our G-d
--- A Ladaat.net reporter notes that Admorim and additional rabbis are expected to provide their opinion as דעת תורה to join in the "Engagement March".
