Sanhedrin Roundup
Here's a number of posts on the Sanhedrin worth noting (positive and negative):
[The Sanhedrin is the ultimate religious authority in Judaism. This organization has not existed for 1,600 years, but an attempt to reinstituted it was begun about 7 months ago in Israel.]
"Gemara (Eruvin 43b) states that Eliyahu [haNavi, Elijah the prophet] will declare his arrival as the harbinger of Moshiach by coming to the Beis Din HaGadol [aka the Sanhedrin]. This Gemara implies that the Beis Din HaGadol will precede the arrival of Eliyahu, and not the other way around (see Maharitz Chiyos ad loc.)."
- From this weeks article in Yated Ne'eman (which is somewhat anti-Sanhedrin, but is a thorough examination of the topic), click here.
- More on the Yated article, with pictures, click here.
- Pictures of the Sanhedrin members here (going on to Har Habayit, the Temple Mount), and comments on the pictures here.
- Quotes from talk of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, commenting on the possibility of recreating the Sanhedrin, click here.
All interesting reading on the topic.
