I've previously posted about Dr. Vendyl Jones and his search for artifacts from the holy Beis Hamikdash, here, here and here.
The last one notes the news article that Dr. Jones feels he's very close to locating the aaron kodesh (the holy ark of the covenant).
Unfortunately, the level of publicity leads to concerns. These are the types of things that happen quietly, that require privacy and even a bit of intentional misdirection (the lesson of Yaakov and the blessings is an example). Revelations of holiness always bring opposition.
I have word from a friend who has spoken with Dr. Jones very recently. There are people _now_ getting in the way, including the government which has now blocked off his announced search area (specifically the IDF is now stationed there, and the area is a 'closed military zone').
The path is now no longer straightforward, there are now new obstacles, in the most physical sense.
If you have the ability to assist Dr. Jones (money, resources, or abilities), contact him and do so (his web site and contact info here). Or contact me if you want to help a helper (I can direct resources to someone who will be helping Dr. Jones, contact info to your right.) The straight path is no longer viable.
On the positive side, Yaakov Nathan (from Yiddishkeit.Org I think) posted this extremely cool note on the End Of Days blog post about Dr. Jones...
I heard that Vendyl Jones has been called a gilgul of Yisro?
Take a look at Bamidbar 10:31 -
Moshe pleads with Yisro to stay with Yisroel:
כִּי עַל-כֵּן יָדַעְתָּ, חֲנֹתֵנוּ בַּמִּדְבָּר, וְהָיִיתָ לָּנוּ, לְעֵינָיִם
"You know our resting places in the desert, and you would be eyes for us."
Rashi points out this can be read as future tense:
"If anything should be hidden from our eyes (in the future), you shall enlighten us."
