Thoughts on Prayer

If G-d's 'energy/light' fills the world, if creation wasn't an event but is a continuous operation, if 'a leaf doesn't turn in the wind without it being part of heavenly plan', if time itself is a creation, then we have so much to pray for.

Are we buffeted about randomly by the winds of the world, or is the Ribbono Shel Olam (Master of the World) involved day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute?

Are we safe and warm, our tummies full? Thank G-d! Is our income stable, our bills paid? Thank G-d! Are our children healthy, safe and uninjured? Thank G-d! Do we have family, friends, a spouse, children? Thank G-d! Do we have a school to learn in, a place to pray at? Thank G-d!

Thank G-d we have them, may we continue to have them!

Are things tough, should they be better? Ask G-d for help! Need a job, or a better job, or a way to pay those bills? Ask G-d for help! Need a spouse, friends, children? Ask G-d for help!

Everything is fine today, will be be tomorrow? Please G-d may it be so!

Thank you Ribbono Shel Olam, Master of the Universe, Avinu Malkaynu Elokaynu, our Father, King, our G-d, for all the blessings you provide us with every day, and so many that we don't even realize how good we have it. Please, PLEASE don't remind us the hard way, with an illness, a terrible loss, or a child's injury!

That is prayer.

This week I pray for my child, who suffered a serious but (Thank G-d!) not life threatening injury, that he will suffer no permanent damage. I cry for his pain, and pray he has as few difficult lessons in his life as possible. And I pray that while everything that comes, comes for the good, it should be in such a way that these simple fleshy eyes can recognize as such.
